Get Your Youth Outdoors and Active for the Oceans

Start with a visit to your nearest ocean beach and explore the delights there, or visit an ocean aquarium (you can find one nearest to you through the Association of Zoos and Aquarium.

NOAA has great marine exploring activities and resources for young people.

The NOAA Marine Sanctuary program has an Ocean Guardians Club for youth k-8.

Get children out to the sea with the Kid in a Park free pass for fourth-graders to NOAA reserves and sanctuaries and other public lands.

Find out about ocean restoration projects near you and get involved. Here's a link that lists some of the cool U.S. ocean restoration projects of the Nature Conservancy, but many coastal communities have ones of their own with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife, state and local agencies and parks, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association. Go as a faith community, youth group, or families. If you are far from an ocean beach, do river clean ups or plant many trees as a group. The Children and Nature Network also has fabulous outdoors service kits, family/group outing activities, Let's Go activities, outdoors adventure activities to get involved in as a community.

Since all rivers generally flow to the sea, get involved with kids, families, schools, and youth groups around the world in monitoring the water in your neighborhood with Earth Echo International's Water Monitoring Program.
