The Interfaith Ocean Ethics Campaign works to catalyze a united religious movement to care for ocean systems, species, and coastal communities based on shared principles of faith to care for God's creation and peoples, especially the poor.
It is a joint effort of the U.S.- based National Religious Coalition on Creation Care (NRCCC) and the Franciscan Action Network (FAN), along with their international parent organizations, the World Stewardship Institute (WSI), and Franciscans International (FI). In addition to our partner organizations of varying faith traditions, we work with scientific advisers and ocean conservation organizations, to ensure the marine science is on target and up to date.
The project brings together members of different religions to educate religious communities, policymakers, and youth on the current state of the oceans, articulate common moral and faith positions, and network action, advocacy, study resources, and hands-on restoration projects to protect and restore marine systems, species, and cultures.
